This is NOT a school or a coaching centre.
It is a learning group—a dynamic knowledge environment where both children and adults come together to explore, discover, and nurture their innate curiosity and thirst for learning.
At lunch time, the children sit down together and have their tiffin. They wash their own plates and utensils, clean the area where they spend their time.
Sri Aurobindo said that the aim of education is to bring out and nurture the latent potentialities to make oneself a complete being or integral human being leading to harmonious living of the individual with humanity moving away from cramming of facts or information as has been the ensuing system thrust upon us from the era of colonial rule.
Mirraloke is to explore the possibility of the student educating oneself rather than being fed just information (and a lot of it!), attempting to provide an environment where he or she can work with interest and joy under the guidance of learning guides or mentors to bring out the best in them and make it active.
